Since its establishment, the Fondazione Ranieri di Sorbello ETS has conducted extensive research aimed at reconstructing and promoting the history of the Ranieri and Bourbon di Sorbello families, tracing their lineage from its origins to the present day.
The research focuses both on important historical figures – examining their roles and accomplishments – and on the family’s artistic and historical heritage. Special attention is given to the study of the art collection, the library and the family archive.
In parallel, a significant area of research concerns the landed estates once owned by the Marquises Ranieri di Sorbello. Among them, the Pischiello estate, located in the municipality of Passignano sul Trasimeno. As one of the family’s largest estates between the 17th and 20th centuries, Pischiello is now the focus of a comprehensive research project. With the collaboration of scholars and external experts, the Foundation is reconstructing the estate’s historical development, examining its economic management and the construction of the family’s villa in the 18th century.
One of the key initiatives in preserving and disseminating this heritage is the publication of the “Quaderni della Fondazione Ranieri di Sorbello” (Pendragon, Bologna), which showcases the findings and reflections arising from this ongoing research. Through these projects, the Foundation not only safeguards and enhances the family’s legacy but also contributes to a deeper understanding of the broader social and economic context of the time.
