The Ranieri di Sorbello Foundation ETS holds a rich and diverse collection of prints and engravings produced between the 16th and 20th centuries, reflecting centuries of collecting taste within the Bourbon di Sorbello family.
This collection is the result of acquisitions and personal interests of various family members, including brothers Uguccione III, Diomede, and Ugolino Bourbon di Sorbello, who were all knowledgeable and passionate admirers of the graphic arts. Historically and artistically significant, the collection stands out for the diversity of its subjects, including portraits, city views and landscapes, genre scenes, and engravings reproducing works by renowned Italian and European artists.
Among the most prestigious pieces featured are works by major masters of printmaking, such as Jacques Callot – known for his war scenes and theatrical representations; Stefano della Bella – a refined interpreter of landscapes and court life; Carlo Lasinio – celebrated for his engravings of Renaissance works; and Antonio Tempesta – a versatile artist famous for his views and epic battle illustrations.
Beyond their aesthetic value, these works serve as important documentary sources, offering insight into the dissemination of graphic art and artistic tastes from the 17th to the 19th century.
