2012

 Luca Signorelli between art critics and cultured travellers (18th-20th century), by Sara Morelli.

As a tribute to the famous painter Luca Signorelli, the Fondazione Ranieri di Sorbello offers a documentary section integrating the monographic exhibition at the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria here in Perugia. On display there is a collection of old and mportant books of the library of Palazzo Sorbello, including valuable volumes relating to Signorelli’s life and critical fortunes accompanied by engraved reproductions of some works of the Tuscan painter. In the exhibition you may also find a selection of books related to travels to Umbria and Tuscany of men of culture who had the opportunity to appreciate some of the most important works by Signorelli.

2011

 Travelling women: books, objects and images of women travellers in Italy in 19th and 20th centuries, by Sara Morelli
(December 16, 2011 – April 15, 2012)

The exhibition included books, objects and images of travels undertaken by women during the 19th and 20th centuries. Together with important editions of travel guides, photographs, valuable prints and interesting travelling objects belonging to the Bourbon di Sorbello family were also exhibited.

2010

From the Risorgimento to the Unification of Italy. Documents and images from the collections of the Palazzo Sorbello, by Sara Morelli.

The exhibition was included in the schedule of events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and the liberation of Perugia from the dominion of the Pope.(December 10, 2010 – December 15, 2011). On display there were documents of the Risorgimento in Italy and in Perugia, volumes in English from the period, articles, photos, some documents related to Uguccione Ranieri di Sorbello (1906-1969) while an area was dedicated to the Bourbon di Sorbello family, showing their relationship with important intellectual figures of the Perugian Risorgimento.

  2009

 Boundless nobility. Primers and children’s books in various languages in the Sorbello Library, by Sara Morelli.

On display there were richly illustrated children’s books, primers and magazines for young people of the 19th and the early 20th century edited in various languages accompanied by original photos.

The exhibition included documents, photographs and newspaper articles connected to the activity of the Association from its beginnings until the present days.

2008

 Pinturicchio and his age: images and stories. Books, prints and periodicals from the Foundation’s collections, by Sara Morelli.

The exhibition includes valuable printed books and critical studies related to the famous Renaissance painter of the Umbrian School together with other documents connecting the artist with the Bourbon del Monte family.

2007

 Invito a Palazzo Sorbello. Collezioni d’arte e tesori librari della famiglia Bourbon di Sorbello a Perugia,by Claudia Pazzini.

The exhibition opens to the public some rooms of the Palazzo Sorbello with the art collections of the family. From this year you can see a fourth room, which houses the treasures of the historical family library and a small exhibition entitled Il Vademecum del Viaggiatore (XVII-XX secolo: memorie e guide).

 Segni di arte cinese tra passato e futuro
(Dicember 13, 2007 – January 27, 2008)

The exhibition exposes some porcelain of the Sorbello family along with other objects, including paintings of Chinese contemporary art by Manfredi Piccolomini. On the occasion of the inauguration took place a Conference of Philip Tinari, a China art expert.

 2006

 Collezionismo a Perugia tra XVIII e XIX secolo. Opere d’arte e mirabilia della famiglia Bourbon di Sorbello,by Claudia Pazzini.

This exhibition has now become a permanent exhibition while awaiting the official opening of the museum, scheduled in 2009. The exhibition showcases a selection of the most representative works owned by the family, including portraits of various descendents, period furniture, valuable paintings and other objects.

 Sogno e realtà nella Germania postwagneriana. Il Simbolismo nelle incisioni di Vogeler e Schneider 1896-1898, by Claudia Pazzini.

The exhibition presented the Foundation’s small collection of the work of two German symbolist artists of the late 19th century: Heinrich Vogeler and Sascha Schneider. There were 26 engravings, 10 by each artist. Heinrich Vogeler’s prints illustrate the play “Die Versunkene Glocke” by Gerhardt Hauptmann, later turned into a lyric opera by Ottorino Respighi. Sascha Schneider’s prints are a collection of sacred and profane images without a clear common theme, except that they have many points in common with Vogelers’.

Realized with the contribution of the Fondazione Lungarotti. The exhibition was introduced by a panel with Caterina Bon Valsassina (Istituto Centrale per il Restauro in Rome), Paola Cassinelli (Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence), Anna Petrioli Tofani (past Director of the Galleria degli Uffizi), Alessandra Migliorati (Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria), Giancarlo Baronti (Università degli Studi di Perugia).

The exhibition displayed 145 photographs coming from Imperial War Museum, Bundesarchiv, Torrini Fotogiornalismo, Alinari, Getty Images, Istituto per la Storia della Resistenza in Toscana, Istituto per la Storia del Movimento di Liberazione Italiano.
